WWF Ecoregions Community Project

I need your help to make the Minecraft Earth Map even better, I want to change the biome generation from the “Köppen Climate Classification” to the “WWF Terrestrial Ecoregions”. In short, this changes the number of available regions from 30 to 827, which allows to set the biomes much more precisely and would allow modded biomes as well.

The big problem: 827 regions have to be linked to Minecaft biomes.

And here is where you can help. People all over the world play and enjoy Minecraft. And no one knows the climate better than people who live in the specific regions.

1. And here is where you can help: Go to the following link:
https://www.arcgis.com/apps/View/index.html?appid=d60ec415febb4874ac5e0960a6a2e448

2. Scroll to the area where you live, used to live, have vacationed, or for some reason know particularly well what the climate is like over there. Click on that area and copy the name of your selected ecoregion like this:

3. Go to the the following link, press F to search in the document and insert the name of the ecoregion:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12gr1QKOf-KjhV2Gt9fbh_MIQRl1hJIWzyG-Tzekt6fg/edit?usp=sharing

4. You will find one row with the exact name. Now you can insert a Minecraft biome in coloum B. if a value has already been entered and you agree with the biome, increase the numerical value in column C (or E,G, etc.) by 1. If you think another biome would fit better, you can add it to one of the alternative columns. The biome entry with the most “votes” will be used. At the end of this article you will find all available biomes.

Warning

Finally, I urge you not to write any nonsense in this document or delete anything. If I find inappropriate entries, the document will be locked and in the worst case the Ecoregions will never become part of the Minecraft Earth Map. In addition, Google keeps version of any changes, so deleting existing entries have no effects in the end.

Available 1.19 Minecraft biomes: (You can also put in alternative biomes for “Biomes O’ Plenty”, “Oh The Biomes You’ll Go” and “Terralith”, in which case you need to use a prefix like “BOP_GRASSLAND”, “BYG_MAJOVE_DESERT”. or “TERRALITH_ALPINE_GROVE”.
